MSED is pleased to recognize Christopher Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc. with the 2009 MSED Executive Leadership Award. Chris directs the company that provides professional and technical services to well-known Ilitch-owned entities including Little Caesar Enterprises, Blue Line Foodservice Distribution, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Champion Foods, Olympia Entertainment, Olympia Development, Uptown Entertainment, and Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraising Program. His leadership has led to the tremendous growth of Little Caesars Pizza throughout the United States and on five continents and, similarly, Blue Line Foodservice Distribution has grown into one of the largest food service distributors in the USA and Canada. Chris has been and continues to be a force in the strategic planning for the future growth of all companies owned by the Ilitch family.

Chris is also recognized for his dedication to local business growth and the community. He supports renaissance efforts in the Detroit area and is involved with many organizations as chairman of Ilitch Charities, board member of Detroit Renaissance and board member of the Detroit Economic Club. He also serves as the chairman of the Metro Detroit Convention & Visitors Bureau and is a board member and member of the executive committee of the Detroit Regional Chamber. In addition, he is currently serving as chairman of the hospitality committee for the 2009 NCAA Final Four Men’s Basketball Tournament. Previously, he was a guiding force behind the hugely successful 2005 Major League Baseball All-Star event in Detroit and was a member of the Super Bowl XL host committee.

He is a great ambassador for the Detroit Metropolitan area as well as for the organizations he leads. MSED is proud to present this year’s Executive Leadership Award to Christopher Illitch.

Platinum Awards

In addition to the Executive Leadership Awards, two (2) Platinum Awards will be presented to recognize persons who distinguished themselves in our field and helped their companies achieve critical business goals. The awards will honor one individual and one team who successfully marketed and sold a new product or service, or an existing product or service to a new market. The Platinum Awards are sponsored by Crain’s Detroit Business.
